You'll need WordPress, Advanced Custom Fields, Leaflet Maps and Leaflet Maps Extensions plugins

If you don't already use WordPress, you'll need to set up a site. If you don't want to change your existing website, you could set up a 'sub domain' to run alongside your main website - you may not need to change web hosts. Perhaps routes.yoursite.com.

If you need a new host, check out Hostinger

  1. Install the RouteFinder plugin

  2. Install the Advanced Custom Fields plugin (free one will be fine)

  3. Install Leaflet Maps and Leaflet Maps Extensions plugins.

  4. Enable RouteFinder and run the setup wizard in the new "Routes" admin menu.

  5. Upload a route, set up a destination (and link to it in the route).

  6. Load it up by visiting [yoursite.com]/routefinder

  7. Customise as you wish.

Vibe coding with AI, I decided to build a plugin for WordPress that can empower cycling, hiking, skiing, tri and walking clubs; Personal trainers can build a training programme with specific routes embedded in pages, or just allow visitors to search everything you've got.

Individual routes or the whole site can be password protected, with the ability to have specific, time expiring passwords without the need for a WordPress login.

Map support for most map tile providers - OpenStreetMap, ThunderForest, HERE, MapTiler and Google. You're in control of what's enabled.
